Santa Charles has been performing as Santa Claus for over 33 years. It began in 1989 when Charles Jennings, founder of Virtualsantaclausvisits.com, worked at "Young's Market" in Kensington California. Charles was 16 years old. The owner of the market offered to pay Charles for an entire 8-hour shift if he wore the Santa suit for just 3 hours. "Being that it was 10 am and Christmas Eve, I enthusiastically put on the suit, and with that, my life would change forever...The Santa suit was a mess. It was old, dirty, in tatters, and held together with staples and tape. Although I thought I must look like a horrid mess, the genuine reactions of smiles and kindness from adults and the pure curiosity and joy from children got me hooked." Ever since then, Santa Charles has brought smiles and cheer to hundreds of children every Christmas season. He has work as Santa for the San Francisco Giants, Oakland A's, several famous celebrities and continues his work each year with much excitement and joy.
The other 11 months of the year, when not at the North Pole, Santa Charles is Captain Charles, owner & operator of Bay Voyager, a small independent tour boat business at PIER 39 in San Francisco, Ca.
